Conditions Of Entry
The applicant must present a Secondary school certificate. Passes equivalent to the British GCE 'A' level are normally required in three subjects:
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology
Chemistry at advanced level is compulsory but it is possible to achieve a place on the course if a student has, for example, studied Mathematics instead of one of the other two.
Applicants who lack these qualifications can only be considered if their admission exam, curriculum vitae and interview demonstrates a satisfactory knowledge.
In the event of the applicant not gaining direct access on to the medical degree course, a place on the Foundation Course, lasting one year, may be available.
This Foundation Course is taken at The Abbey College, Malvern, U.K., which is the only college to be accredited by the C.M.U.C.A.S. to teach these courses. The course itself has also been accredited by the B.A.C. (British Accreditation Council).
For those with existing qualifications in medical or scientific fields, it may be possible to obtain a one-year exemption.
A longer exemption is not possible, as one must be prepared for the clinical years, be able to communicate with patients and understand their basic medical history in the Czech language.
